Plus Size Vegan Shirt Review

One of the only fat positive messages I’ve found; from Compassion Co.

Here’s an alphabetical list of vegan clothing companies that I reviewed based on if their clothing is accessible to fat folks.

None of these companies paid me anything, gave me anything, or knew I was going to mention them on my website beforehand. Not having clothing at an event is a common way to exclude people of size from the movement, and I hope that I’ll be able to add updates as these companies fix their options, or as I find more size inclusive companies to list here.

Company: Alba Paris
Website: https://albaparisart.com/
Size Chart: “runs true to size” “men size up women size down”
Size options: W XS- XL Uni S-2XL
Review: Kudos to leggings with vegan messages. They print on American Apparel, so in theory they could go up to a 3x shirt without changing vendors, but don’t, and that’s the least companies could do. D-.

Company: Compassion Co.
Website: http://www.compassionco.com/
Size Chart: http://www.compassionco.com/size-chart
Size Options: W XS-XXL and Uni XS-XXXL
Review: The only vegan clothing company with fat positive messages including a shirt that says “Fat Happy Vegan” and buttons that say “some vegans are fat get over it”. They acknowledge that they want larger shirts, but have supply issues. Knowing they have an issue is a step in the right direction, and there is nowhere else I’ve seen fat positive vegan messaging. Company: In the Soulshine
Website: http://inthesoulshine.com/
Size Chart http://inthesoulshine.com/sizing
Size Options: W XXS-XXL M S-XXL
Review: They hire their own tailors, so having such limited size options is no excuse. In the Soulshine needs to step it up big time. D-.

Company: Meaningful Paws
Website: https://www.meaningfulpaws.care/
Size Chart: Viewable from individual shirt pages
Size Options: W S-2XL Uni S-XXL
Review: Cool designs, and sortable by message, but very limited size options. Measurements of their 2XL in women’s sizing is equal to a Large (dress size 12-14) in comparison to other makers. If the average size woman is a 16, they are already maxing out in sizes below average. D-

Company: Mercy for Animals Store
Website: http://store.mercyforanimals.org/
Size Chart: Viewable from individual shirt pages
Size Options: W S-2XL M XS-XXL
Review: MFA is a good organization, and I would love to see more size diversity. As it stands, their sizing is dismal and they ought to step up their options. In any situation where an organization’s logo is part of apparel, I would like to hope that it is not because they don’t want fat people sporting their logo. Please prove me wrong, MFA. D

Company: The Herbivore Clothing Company
Website: https://www.herbivoreclothing.com/
Size Chart:
Size Options: W S-XL M XS-XXL
Review: Using American Apparel shirts but not offering 3x shirt; an easy fix that doesn’t demand they change vendors or ethics practices. They do offer other accessories including a belt that fits a 52″ waist in which they mentioned it was because of popular demand. D+

Company: Wholesome Culture
Website: https://www.wholesomeculture.com/
Size Chart: https://www.wholesomeculture.com/pages/sizing-chart
Size Options: W S-2XL Uni XS-3XL
Review: Their size chart mentions 4x, but I couldn’t find any shirts listed that large. Also no mention of what brand the shirts are being made, so there’s no excuse (like in American apparel only going up to a 3x). C-
